The Banquet of Greed

"The Banquet of Greed" tells the story of Chen Shuming, a recently widowed woman who is hosting a funeral banquet for her late husband in a rural farmhouse courtyard. As the ceremony unfolds, news of an impending demolition and the large compensation it will bring spreads among the guests, sparking greed and tension. Relatives, friends, and neighbors begin to pressure Chen Shuming for a share of the money, pushing her to a breaking point. In a dramatic turn, she takes up a spear, confronting those who seek to exploit her, ultimately choosing to stand alone in defense of her dignity and the memory of her husband.
