Submitter Statement

Body Never Found approaches disappearance as something unfinished. Sebastian returns without memory, but the world around him has already begun to turn him into an absence. His search is not only for identity, but for a place inside a life that may no longer have room for him. Each object brings him closer to himself, while also making him more distant. The film does not seek a single interpretation. It leaves space for ambiguity, grief, and the quiet violence of becoming absent from one’s own life.

Marco Santos is a Portuguese filmmaker who came to cinema later in life. His perspective is marked by years of distance, disillusionment, and close observation of the world around him. His films are drawn to what often remains unspoken, unstable memory, exhausted beliefs, and the quiet transformations people only recognize too late. He is interested less in answers than in the emotional residue left behind.
