Steely Paupher’s ordinary Houston childhood unravels when her father is killed and her mother sinks into depression, forcing Steely to work and fend for herself. Refusing to believe the official story of her father’s death, she begins a dangerous search for the truth.
Submitter Statement
Ashley had the honor of directing an interview of her late father-in-law, Felipe Romero, for a documentary about the true story of the Mexican-American teens of the San Felipe High School Golf team that won the State Golf Championship in 1957. Their story has been both published called Mustang Miracles by Humberto G. Garcia, and produced into a film called The Long Game (currently aired on Netflix)
Ashley S. Romero is from Sweeny,TX. She moved to Houston in 2005 to study Broadcast Journalism as a major and Marketing and Entrepreneurship as a minor at the University of Houston from 2005-2008. She later interned and volunteered at Lakewood Media for several years doing live production broadcasting and video productions. Ashley became a Certified Filmmaker in 2019 from the Houston Community College. She is a member of the National Honors Society of Collegiate Scholars, Who's Who Among American Students in Colleges and Universities, and made the Dean's Honor Roll during her time of enrollment at both the college and university. She is happily married to Angel Romero of nine years, and currently living in Rosenberg, TX.
