When you’re three inches tall, a cluttered attic can offer a world of mystery and wonder! Zip and his friend Wheel explore the shadowy corners of a long forgotten Nursery, playing with the wooden blocks, wind-up toys, tin soldiers and jack-in-the-box. But a family of mice view their noisy presence as an invasion and launch a counter attack. Zip and Wheel retreat to a dusty music room, where more creatures and an unexpected symphony emerge from the woodwork!

Submitter Statement

I consider myself a quirky curator heeding the sirens of imagination. I’m inspired by found objects, in particular old rusty things that I find buried in the sand on desert hikes. In them I feel the ache of things lost, the delight of things found, and the curious itch of how to bring them to life. The world that Zip explores are the long lost corners of my grandparents’ attic, reimagined with my own clutter of antiques, books, vintage toys, and musical instruments.

Carolyn Gair is an award winning Canadian filmmaker with a degree in Classical Animation, living in Los Angeles as a writer, director & story artist winning both an Emmy Award & Annie nomination. In 2023 she completed her first animated feature RETURN TO KELLOGG, as well as stopmotion shorts FLOWER, and FORAGE, which won Best Children’s Short, Audience Favorite Award, and Best Stopmotion at the 2024 Los Angeles Animation Festival. TIN TUNE is her 3rd film in the Zip series.
