Two unsuspecting men show up at a sweet old lady’s door pretending to offer their services for free, but as strange events occur, and bizarre discoveries are made they quickly learn it might be her who is pulling a fast one on them. In the tone of GET OUT and PARASITE this genre-bending horror-comedy aims to examine just how far people are willing to go to protect those they love most. Their dogs, of course.

Submitter Statement
Dog People at its core is a pure genre bending story in which we definitively navigate from the lighthearted, joyful world of comedy; directly into the emotionally riveting, life and death world of the horror/thriller genre. The script seamlessly delivered this transition, so it was our job as collaborating filmmakers to find a way to deliver this challenging metamorphosis in a way in which the audience remains intrigued, entertained, and drawn to the edge of their seat. All the while attempting to be so meticulous that they are unaware of the ride they are being taken on. A delicate balance that must make full and intentional use of lighting; sound/music; and performance to pull off. Specificity, while always crucial, was made even more heightened in this case. And it is in the visual and auditory journey we invite you on that we hope Dog People will prove to both entertain you and hook you emotionally to the very bitter end.
Dog people also uses its unique tone and scope to highlight two very real social issues; How far people are willing to go to protect their pets, as well as elder abuse. We use our comedic lens to explore the more benign aspects of the former in peoples obsessive behavior with their pets, juxtaposed with a more serious lens to illustrate the latter, which affects thousands of our elderly every year. For those of us that have had a loved one taken advantage of in this way, this film can act as a catharsis to an ending that rarely comes our way. The disadvantaged get to win in our story – and while that’s not great news for our protagonists, it sure as hell does feel like the sweet justice we wish we could give our loved ones.
Bradley Stryker's feature film debut, LAND OF SMILES, took the international film festival circuit by storm on its way to becoming a 35x Award-Winning film. The film, his screenplay, and his direction received acclaim, including the London Film Awards, the American Film Awards, Los Angeles Film Review, and the Toronto Independent Film Awards. His brand of storytelling has been said to be, "Emotionally raw" and "Unnervingly honest, subtle, and terrifying."
Bradley recently completed his sophomore feature film as a writer/director. SHELTERING SEASON (thriller), which was filmed in Vancouver, BC, and was distributed theatrically by the prestigious Vertical Entertainment in the US/UK. He also recently wrapped his third feature, MOMMA BIRD (horror/thriller), filmed in Louisiana, which is actively in post-production now.
