Not every loss comes with tears. Some goodbyes are too deep for language. Some wounds echo only in silence.

War does not only take lives. It erases warmth, connection, love. In the stillness that follows, only the faintest echoes endure—waiting for someone, somewhere, to remember.

After the final echo fades, stillness descends.

In the ruins, a glance is exchanged—no names, no cries, only the weight of what will never be said.

Time pauses. Dust hovers. Memory refuses to settle.

Submitter Statement

I grew up on an island surrounded by sea—Taiwan. As a child, I never witnessed war, yet I felt its shadow in the quiet eyes of elders and in the silence left by history. Old military bunkers scattered along the coast whispered of a world that once trembled.

In Imagine Peace, I chose not to explain, but to let silence become its own language—a language that speaks not through words, but through what’s left unsaid. In times of conflict, fragile voices vanish first. This film does not attempt to speak for them; it allows the absence to echo louder than speech.

Through stillness, I invite the audience to feel what we often overlook—the quiet strength born in silence, and the resilience of memory. Imagine Peace is not just about war, but about what survives after it: the yearning for peace, the innocence we’ve nearly forgotten, and the fragile hope that still flickers in a wounded world.

The director is a multidisciplinary filmmaker whose works integrate animation, documentary, and experimental art. With a restrained yet lyrical visual style, their films explore themes of war, human rights, and emotional healing, earning international recognition including awards for Best Short Film, Best Animated Short, and Best Visual Effects.

Their films have been selected and honored by a range of international film festivals. Notably, their work has been recognized by the International Festival of Red Cross and Health Films—an institution devoted to promoting humanitarian values through cinema. This milestone underscores the director's ongoing commitment to socially engaged storytelling and the therapeutic power of moving images.

Beyond cinema, the director has authored several books on art education, digital media, and visual storytelling. Their original picture books have been published across Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and China, blending narrative, illustration, and cultural reflection into a unique visual language—earning recognition through cultural awards from official institutions.

With over two decades of experience in visual design, the director was also responsible for the official Chinese-language merchandise design of The Lord of the Rings film series. They are currently adapting their illustrated works into animated features, continuing to explore the intersection of Eastern and Western mythology while evoking resonance and hope through creative expression.
