Sejin, a boy on the verge of adolescence, is taken by his mother to spend the summer at his grandmother’s secluded mountain home. In the languid stillness of the countryside, time seems to stretch without end—until a girl named Heemin suddenly steps into his world.
At first an unwelcome disruption, her presence soon softens the edges of his solitary days, turning the ordinary into something quietly luminous. Yet just as Sejin begins to hope the summer might last forever, time itself unravels: the season resets, and his days begin to repeat, as if caught in an endless loop between memory and desire.

Submitter Statement
"August 32nd" is a film about the way we hold on to the past. Memories define us — sometimes they sustain us, and other times they weigh us down. Whether they are moments we want to treasure or wounds we’d rather forget, who we are today is shaped by all of them.
But too often we cling to what’s gone and miss what’s right in front of us, or we try to escape pain only to lose the present. This film grew out of that thought, and from the question: “When we reach back for what has already passed, are we clouding the life we are living now?”
Yunbin An is a South Korean filmmaker.
His debut short film "The Unusual TV Wiki: Episode 617 – The Extraordinary Cohabitation with a Strange Man and a Talking Goat" (2021) was completed with production support from the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFAN) and screened at the festival’s 25th edition.
His second short film, "Kicking Toward Tomorrow!" (2025), was selected for the Korean Shorts Production Support Program at the 42nd Busan International Short Film Festival. Combining humor with social insight, the film drew attention and was screened at the 42nd edition of the festival.
His third short film, "August 32nd" (2025), was produced with support from the Fantastic Film School (FFS) at BIFAN. As an AI-based short, it merges science-fiction imagination with AI technology, presenting a bold visual style and sensuous narrative, and was screened at the 29th BIFAN.
